After Rallies
- BBQ: Check the gas is off. Give it a quick clean, put the cover on and back into the clubrooms. Give the bbq tools a clean with hot soapy water.
- Take away the BBQ rubbish, don't leave it to the families that are last to lock up.
- One last flush: Check the toilet lids are down and doors are closed.
- Repairs: notify the committee of anything you have found in disrepair or broken that you couldn't fix at the time (or if you are planning on fixing for us... we love that)! Email the Secretary here.
- Keep the clubhouses tidy. A quick pickup of rubbish or putting things away, all members need to be doing this.
- Parents get your kids to help out before they pack up to leave.
There are some things that always need doing at any time:
- Clean the toilets and hand basin (replenish supplies)
- Check around arenas and the jump courses for rabbit holes. Fill in with a spade. There are some in the container or lean-to if you didn't bring one.
- Remove horse poo from sand arenas. This can be picked up and spread on the grass side of the arenas.
- Check the container (equipment) is tidy. Often coaches/kids or parents wrangling kids are racing to put stuff back quickly.... not properly!
A couple of times a year we need the following done:
- Arena's sprayed for weeds
- Grass mowed
After Competitions:
- Remove jump decorations, twine needs to be disposed of not left in arenas or grassed areas. Pop the decorations back into the container or clubhouse, dispose of the natural fillers. (eg. dead pine branches etc).
- Jump numbers re-ordered for ease of use next time. We love to know what colours and what numbers we have - these are used for different heights and different courses. This makes course setting up a breeze!!
Next Working Bee Tasks:
In addition to the 'After Rallies' and 'Always needs doing' lists above, please bring any gear to do the following tasks.
Tidy Up
- Rabbit holing - bring spades.
- Remove old foliage from Cross Country and add to burn pile
- Return all rope, cones and fence standards to the container. (check if removing cones or fence standards they are not marking hazards).
Let us know what you will be keen to do and if you're bringing equipment, trailers etc.
NOTE: Where there are any extraordinary costs you cannot personally cover please let us know when picking up the task and we can help go through the expense reimbursement process (generally if its low cost we just want a receipt and to check no one else has already just bought the same; if something is more expensive we might ask for a few quotes if there are options).
Got something to add to the lists or seen something that needs doing? If you cant get it done yourself (we'd love it if you could) please email the Secretary here.
